If you’re a fully qualified beauty therapist with at least 18 months of hands-on clinic experience, who has a passion for your profession and a desire to get to the top of the industry, please email your CV with covering letter to Marianna: email@example.com.
You will need to be prepared to give it your all, have fun and embrace the family culture that About Face (and About Man, the brother to About Face) is famous for. Of course, your interest will be handled in strict confidence.
When skin therapist Marianna Glucina opened a tiny hole-in-the-wall skin clinic in an arcade in Henderson almost 30 years ago, she never dreamed that it would one day blossom into a family of gorgeous modern clinics across Auckland. Fast forward almost three decades, and About Face’s seven Auckland skin clinics are widely acknowledged as the leaders in advanced skincare in New Zealand.
About Face remains a close family owned business, not an impersonal franchise, and with mentorship from Marianna and her brother Paul many skin therapists go on to follow their own dreams – becoming senior therapists, clinic managers or trainers within the company. Some About Face team members have explored other career options within the industry, becoming brand trainers or business development managers and even establishing their own skin clinics.
Marianna and Paul have always believed in investing heavily in training and development for their teams and equipping their skin therapists with the most knowledge possible, whether that’s with facilitators within New Zealand or international educators. They use a wide range of effective skincare and cosmeceutical ranges and the most up-to-date technology available (including Fraxel, Clear + Brilliant, IPL and Omnilux). About Face has pioneered many such technologies in this country and pushed the boundaries on what’s possible in effectively “fixing skins” without needles and injectables.
In Marianna’s words: “We guarantee to turn you into the best skin therapist you can possibly be. That’s our aim. We’re proud to say the post-graduate training and personal development we offer is unrivalled in New Zealand – it’s our key point of difference that makes a career with us such an exciting move.
“All new team members are trained in ‘The About Face Way’, which involves taking part in our 18-month induction programme coupled with post-graduate education right up to a senior level. Everyone at About Face is encouraged to develop their skills and whether it’s technical, communication, sales or business-building skills you need, we provide a comprehensive ongoing learning environment. A dedicated person with the drive to succeed will reach their full potential at About Face.”
About Face is also the most generous company in the industry in terms of incentives. “We recognise and reward loyalty and outstanding service, and as a result many members of our team have been with us for more than 10 years,” says Marianna. “We work hard and reward well!” The annual About Face Awards programme awards international travel to outstanding teams and individuals. For example, in 2014 seven winning team members flew to Melbourne with Marianna for training and a wee bit of R&R.
Marianna says About Face’s philosophy is underpinned by a strong set of values. As well as knowledge and education, the company values open and honest communication, professionalism and attention to detail, and aims to foster a sense of belonging for team and clients alike. “We challenge you each day to be your best and reach your full potential while having fun doing it,” says Marianna. “It’s my passion – inspiring women to grow!”
